Costa Blanca, or the white coast as it is better known, is located south of the Valencia region and has a well developed tourism industry that is very popular for British, Dutch and German tourists. At it's centre lies Alicante and the airport. The area includes numerous small resorts and to the north are the popular resorts of Gandia, Javea and Denia while to the south, you will find Torrevieja and the beginning of the Costa Calida.
The middle of July to the end of August on the Costa Blanca sees them at their busiest and hottest, and coupled with an average of eleven hours of sunshine per day makes it a must for all beach and sun worshipers. Characterised by large beaches and resorts, the most popular being Benidorm, this mega resort was until the 1960s, a sleepy fishing village, yet today in Europe only London and Milan have more skyscrapers than this mega resort. Alicante is the capital and major city of the Costa Blanca and if you wander away from the beach you can explore the fascinating medieval towns and fortified villages which have been largely unaffected by modernism and tourism. The region is also renowned for its citrus trees, almond trees and date palms.

Food and Drink on the Costa Blanca.
Excellent food at reasonable prices make this one of the best tourist areas in Spain for a great holiday. The local beers are as good as you'll find anywhere in the world, and the variety of food on offer, ensures there's always something to take your fancy after a long day out. There are many British and international restaurants to choose form in most of the resorts.
You will find fast food, British breakfasts and even the traditional British Sunday roast! But don't leave without trying some traditional Spanish cuisine. 'Tapas' are a wide selection of tasty foods such as 'chorizo' - a spicy sausage, served with bread, 'serrano ham', omlettes, baby casseroles/stews, vegetable/fish fritters etc etc, all designed to accompany drinks and good conversation. You will also find a wealth of international restaurants - French, Italian, Mexican, English, Thai, Chinese, German, Indian, to name but a few and do not forget McDonalds and Burger King.
Costa Blanca bars and restaurants select their wines, coffees, infusions, cavas, champagnes and spirits from only the very best Bodegas across the whole of Spain.
